Since improvement activities became a common practice in most companies in Japan, KAIZEN is recognized as the pillar of an organization’s long-term competitive strategy, and has been promoted nationwide in Japan for:
- Industries (manufacturing)
- Service Companies
- Public Sector
Lean
What is Lean?
Lean Production System is the production system that drastically reduces working hours, inventories, movements, etc., while maintaining product quality equal to or better than the traditional mass production system, by improving control of process.
In the late 1980’s, Dr. James P. Womack (Professor at MIT) and his project members studied “Toyota Production System”, summarized it as Lean Production System.
They introduced it to the world as the most efficient production system, and titled it “The Machine that Changes the World”.
